Miel y Sal

On my sternum, a small tide. Miel y Sal.
The hour pours west,
petals like letters saved, folded like garments.
Bees carry water home to cool the dark,
they write maps with their bodies,
a sun-led script to home.
If ink is water that remembers,
my chest is its page,
salt hems the margins, honey mends the seam.
Honey for the grief, salt for the keeping,
I hold both in my mouth like prayer,
ask the water how it carves.
I turn toward the last light, to remember,
and the water answers, yes.

About the Artist

Elizabeth Gunter
Chair, Arts & Historic Alliance of St. George
Artist | Owner, Creative Well Design | Founder, ART Provides | Co-founder, Art Broker Utah

Elizabeth Gunter is an artist, graphic designer, and entrepreneur who has dedicated her career to building creative connections. Raised in New York City and trained in Chicago, she eventually found her artistic home in Southern Utah, inspired by the region’s red rock landscapes and vibrant community. Her work spans painting, poetry, photography, and design, always with an eye toward creating meaningful exchanges between people and art.

Beyond her personal practice, Elizabeth founded ART Provides and co-founded Art Broker Utah, bridging the gap between artists and the spaces that showcase them. She also leads as Chair of the Arts & Historic Alliance of St. George, helping cultivate opportunities for artists and shaping the role of the arts in the downtown district.

Elizabeth is grateful to the Alliance Steering Committee, Dinner on Main organizers, volunteers, artists, and community partners whose support made this year’s Experiential Art Walk possible.
