About the Artist

Bill Sherwin

I grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah where I hiked, biked, golfed and cross-country skied. When I was in 7th grade, I was fortunate to take art class. The teacher was a beautiful young blonde right out of college named Miss Draper. I had a major crush on her. She helped get me get started into a world that I will always be grateful to her for. I know I got started for all the wrong reasons, but it was an introduction into a different way to see the planet.

Twelve years ago, I begrudgingly took a Watercolor workshop and my world changed, I had been doing most of my work in graphite or pen and ink. Watercolor offered so many more possibilities and was much faster. I love all the things you can do with watercolor. If done correctly it gives you a freshness that you can’t achieve in any other medium. 

I enjoy painting just about anything, my favorites are people and Lake Powell. Painting is the meditation that I crave, and I’m so blessed that I get to do it.
