About the Artist

Darlene Delaney

Location: Washington, Utah

Education: Self-taught; no formal art training

Artistic Journey

  • My interest and love of art started at a young age watching my Mother paint and craft. She started me out with a John Gnagy Charcoal course, and then moved to colored pencils and later to painting with oils. This was my medium until I moved to Washington, Utah.

  •  Initially I pursued a different career before deciding to become a full-time artist. After many years of working as a Director for a large company which developed and sold Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software, I felt like a piece of my life was missing. My desire to express myself through art and share it with others has fulfilled that part of me that was missing.

Artistic Style and Mediums

  • Although I started out as an Oil Painter, I now paint with Watercolors. I am mesmerized by the beauty and transparency of the medium. Self-study, local classes, workshops by famous artist, and online courses are instrumental to my development and progress.

  •  My main inspiration comes from my love of nature, personal travel and cultural experiences. All of my paintings are from my personal experience or photographs taken by my husband or me while traveling. Our travels took us around the world, and with each picture I would say to David, “I am going to paint that one day.”

  •  I am a member and Secretary for Dixie Watercolor Society. I participate in the local art shows and exhibitions at Gallery 35, in St. George, Utah.

Artist Statement

As art is very personal, I feel that the person looking at my art Connects to the feeling I am transferring through my painting and love of nature.
